# Connections

Understanding Private Connections Private connections allow you to:

* Transfer pick-up rights to other parties
* Maintain commercial privacy
* Ensure secure data exchange between organisations
* Control who can see your business relationships

All information about your business partnerships is only visible to your organisation and the connected party. No other entities can access or view this confidential data.

### Creating New Private Connections

The connection process involves 4 steps:

* Step 1: You (the inviter) create and trigger a new connection request
* Step 2: The other entity (invitee) accepts your connection request
* Step 3: Automatic update and encryption of your connections in your wallet
* Step 4: Connection encryption completion (performed automatically)

Important Tip: Set up your private connections well in advance. If you wait until the last minute, your partner might not be onboarded to SCR yet, which could cause unwanted delays.
{% endhint %}
