# PIN retrieval

The PIN option allows you to retrieve the PINs for a container.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Once the PIN for a release has been retrieved, a *transfer* of this release is no longer possible.
{% endhint %}

### Follow these steps to retrieve the PIN:

* Make sure that you first have the containers selected which you want the PIN for.

  You will see an arrow pointing down (next to the 'TRANSFER'-button). \
  Click on it and select 'GET A PIN'.
* A new window will pop-up asking if you would like the PIN in the document.

  Click ‘GET A PIN' if you do, click ‘CANCEL' if not.

#### This also applies if you want to export the PIN (PDF/EXCEL)

Search for the release you want to download, select that release, hit the little PDF-sign.

Before generating the file, the app will ask if the user would like the PIN code in the document or not.\
The user must click on ‘CONTINUE WITH PIN' so the PIN will be added to the PDF-file.

{% hint style="info" %}
When a release is [**revoked**](/using-scr/releases/transfer-and-revoke.md#revoke) by an earlier party, the PIN is invalidated, and a new PIN can be retrieved once the release is received again.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
For terminals no longer using PINs, this function will be unavailable (grey).
{% endhint %}

When in doubt, please consult with your carrier or the terminal directly.
